Hotels in Orlando: Exciting Tours to Take During Your Vacation by Chad Stetson

When most people think of Orlando, the first thing that pops into their head is theme parks; specifically, Universal Studios and Walt Disney World. However, there's much more to this Florida city than Mickey Mouse ears and roller coasters. Downtown Orlando is home to excellent restaurants, museums, and boutiques. Meanwhile, the wilderness surrounding the city is full of natural wonders.

If you're staying at one of the hotels in downtown Orlando, why not take a tour and see what else the city has to offer? Here are a few excellent tours to consider for your getaway:

Kayaking

Explore Orlando's wilderness via kayak! Check out the Wekiwa Springs day tour, offered by Adventures in Florida. Paddle down the headwaters of the picturesque Wekiwa River, through the territory of rare birds, alligators, and black bears. Keep your eyes peeled to see creatures darting among the reeds and shambling along the bank. If you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of baby turtles sunning themselves on logs! Water and a riverside picnic lunch are included in the price of your ticket. The tour costs about $80 per person.

Hot-Air Balloon Ride

Want to see all of Orlando in one go? Book a hot-air balloon tour with Bob’s Balloons. You'll get 360-degree views of the city and its surrounding areas, learn all about the swamplands, and even get a birds-eye glimpse at Orlando's famous theme parks. Bob's Balloons can accommodate up to six people per tour and will customize your adventure however you want. Flights start at $160 for an adult and $90 for children weighing less than 90 pounds. Make sure you make your reservation at least a month in advance. This truly is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Food and City Tour

Food-lovers of all stripes will get a kick out of Orlando's Tantalizing Tastes & Tours. This four-hour outing includes visits to six or seven unique restaurants in the Orlando area. Sample gourmet tea sandwiches, French-inspired delicacies, authentic Latin dishes, and more. The tour costs $68 per adult and $63 per child. Eat your way around the city and get a true taste (pun intended) of Orlando's personality.

So, if you've booked a hotel in Orlando for your next vacation, be sure not to confine yourself to the amusement parks. Explore downtown with its cosmopolitan dining options, have a foray into the wilderness, or soar above the city in a roaring hot-air balloon. It's all up to you!
Vacations spent at hotels in Orlando have more to offer than theme parks. Take a break from the roller coasters and explore this Florida city on these great tours.
