Scottsdale: One More Reason to Book Flights to Phoenix AZ by Chad Stetson

Got flights to Phoenix AZ booked for your next vacation? Consider renting a car and taking a drive east to Scottsdale while you're there. Scottsdale is located in the Phoenix Metro Area, and is home to many excellent art galleries, golf courses and quality resorts. If you feel you need a break from all the hustle and bustle of Phoenix, a brief visit to homey Scottsdale could be just the ticket.

So, what exactly is there to do in Scottsdale? Here's a comprehensive list of some of the best activities the city has to offer.

Eat and Drink Your Way Around Old Scottsdale

If you're a lover of food or wine, you'll love A Taste of Old Town Scottsdale. This historical walking tour takes you through the city, entertaining you with stories of the Wild West and demonstrations of how things were done during that time. You will also get to sample delicious wine and food provided by Scottsdale's finest restaurants. The tour takes you from past to present Scottsdale in the span of three hours.

The tour is available every day during the week starting at 11 a.m., except on Sundays when it begins at noon. Tickets for A Taste of Old Town Scottsdale sell out quickly, so you'll want to purchase them ahead of time. The cost is $45 per person for the three-hour tour, which includes the food and wine, but not gratuity.

Take a Hike

Hiking in Scottsdale is a wonderful way to spend a day. If you feel up for some outdoor adventure, head to Piestewa Peak, located at Lincoln & 32nd Street. This area is an undeveloped mountain that is great for hiking, biking, and picnicking. The climb to the summit is a little more than a mile, so eat a hearty breakfast before setting off! If you've booked flights to Phoenix during the summer, you might not want to plan on hiking to the summit, as the extreme heat can be dangerous!

Walk Your Way Around the Art

Scottsdale is home to an abundance of art galleries and art shows. If you appreciate art, consider taking the Scottsdale Art Walk. This walk takes place every Thursday night between 7 and 9 p.m. in the Gallery District in downtown Scottsdale. It's free to participate in, and is a great way to experience the art of the Scottsdale community. The galleries stay open late for the Art Walk, and musicians and street vendors line the streets until the wee hours.

Shop Your Way Around the Fashion Square Mall

If you love shopping, you will have a great time in Scottsdale. The Fashion Square Mall, located near the intersection of Camelback and Scottsdale roads, is one of the largest malls in the United States. You can browse in its wide selection of upscale shops and boutiques for hours on end. Be sure you save extra room in your suitcase for all the new items you'll bring back with you!

Take advantage of your flights to Phoenix AZ and explore the town of Scottsdale. Its combination of small-town atmosphere and cosmopolitan culture is sure to captivate you.

If you've booked flights to Phoenix AZ for your vacation, leave time in your itinerary to explore Scottsdale. This nearby city's small-town vibe and big-city culture are sure to charm you.
